JJ Nasi Lemak @ Jalan Junid

Muarkaki woke up early in the morning again just to have this breakfast – Nasi Lemak. The reason why we woke up so early is because this Nasi Lemak is only sold at a very specific hours. If you actually read through our previous blog posts, we did mention about this particular stall before but that time we weren’t able to try it because we were trying to enter, the mak cik inside the stall just shouted “Dah habis”. Oh well.
This JJ Nasi lemak opens from 7am till when-the-food-is-finished. In other words, it doesn’t really a finishing time to be exact. It will normally close around 830 if not mistaken, and the latest would just be 9am. No one could guarantee you that you still can get a pack of Nasi Lemak from here if you decided to come at 9am.
This JJ Nasi Lemak is located opposite the Pangsapuri Pemandang Tanjung. You can find this stall in a residential house. If you are driving from Thai Sea Food Restaurant (aka Lompo) direction, you could easily spot this stall on your left.
What’s so special about it?
Nasi Lemak + Fried Chicken = RM4.50 + 1 Hard boiled egg (RM0.60)
Both of us ordered the exact same kind of Nasi Lemak – Nasi Lemak with hard-boiled egg (We preferred fried egg, but it just sold off!) and a fried chicken. What a filling breakfast it is. I personally think that this Nasi Lemak has a very strong “santan” taste, and you might wonder isn’t all Nasi Lemak has santan in it, so what’s so unique about it. But somehow I think the Nasi Lemak in this stall really comes with a strong “santan” fragrant, and even by just putting a spoon of rice into your mouth, you could actually taste how “santan” tasted like. On the other way round, I think the sambal was just not spicy to me. Well maybe my tolerance towards chilli is really high, this sambal was just not spicy enough to satisfy my taste bud. When the sambal has strong taste and way too spicy right, it will eventually cover up the simple “santan” taste in the Nasi Lemak. It just nice to balance up I think.
This fried chicken just adopts a very typical Malay style frying method and it totally different from the one that we had in Chinese Restaurant. There’s a strong turmeric taste and the fried chicken had dark yellow colour as per shown in the picture. The chef had also did a small trick on the chicken which had a small cut between the skin and the meet so that the oil can actually flow in and make the skin more crispy and yummy. Me kinda like it.

We also saw another food options at this stall besides Nasi Lemak, which is Fried Meehun. We weren’t sure about its taste but there were really a lot of people dabao back. Even the server also double-checked with us whether we want to dabao or not when she served us our food. It sort of like hinting us that if you wanna dabao, please act fast. Never blame us of not reminding you if you gonna dabao later on. That’s actually true. All staffs were actually packing up to close the stall at around 830am. Early…..
Teh Tarik RM1.20
Kurang Manis!
Oh ya, we ordered Teh Tarik kurang manis but for me, it was just not sweet at all. Isn’t it just be sweet then only yummy? So if you have the similar taste with me, please do not pandai pandai add “kurang manis” when you order Teh Tarik.

In conclusion, if you wake up early and just done jogging at Tanjung, then you can actually take this Nasi Lemak as one of your breakfast options and drive here to dabao. Else, if my sleeping time has to be sacrificed just to have this breakfast, then I rather sleep and not eating this because this working hour is really early & short. I need more sleep!
